Our laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Joint Commission on Accreditation (JCAHO), the American Association of Blood Banking (AABB), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Laboratory at Jefferson Regional Medical Center accepts orders for outpatient laboratory testing from physicians who are on-staff at JRMC as well as from physicians who are affiliated with other facilities. A written order from a physician is required. Test results will be sent to the ordering physician in a timely manner, usually within 24-48 hours. Special requests from physicians for calling or faxing the results will also be honored. Services are provided under the supervision of the Director of Laboratories, who is board-certified in both clinical and anatomic pathology. Caring for the CommunityIn addition to providing vital testing services for referred patients, the laboratory participates in community health screening programs, some of which are offered in conjunction with the hospital's Oncology Unit.StaffMembers of the technical staff are registered by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as Medical Technologists (MT) and Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT). Phlebotomists must complete training through an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program.
