Infection Control for Visitors
Hospitalized patients are more susceptible to all bacteria and viruses. All persons interacting with patients have a role in preventing transmission of bacteria and viruses to and from persons who are ill. Using the following points, you can help us keep our patients safe while visiting them in the hospital.
  • Use alcohol hand sanitizers on the wall outside of each patient room before entering, and when leaving the room.
  • Do not sit on the patient's bed, or place clothing or purses on the patient's bed.
  • Live flowers and plants are not permitted in the intensive care units or in the rooms of patients whose immune systems are very weak.
  • Use public restrooms located throughout the hospital and always wash your hands before leaving the restroom.
  • We do not allow children under the age of 14 to visit patients except for extenuating circumstances with permission of the nurse manager of the unit.
  • Please do not visit if you have cold or flu symptoms. Ask the staff to provide you with a facemask to cover your nose and mouth. Always contain a cough or sneeze in a tissue or handkerchief.
  • Read and follow isolation information posted outside the patient's room.
