Infection Control

Hospitalized patients are more susceptible to all bacteria and viruses. All persons interacting with patients have a role in preventing transmission of bacteria and viruses to and from persons who are ill. You can help us keep our patients safe while visiting them in the hospital.

• Use alcohol hand sanitizers on the wall outside of each patient room before entering, and when leaving the room.
• Do not sit on the patient's bed, or place clothing or purses on the patient's bed.
• Live flowers and plants are not permitted in the intensive care units (ICU) or in the rooms of patients whose immune systems are very weak.
• Use public restrooms located throughout the hospital. Always wash your hands before leaving the restroom.
• We do not allow children under the age of 14 to visit patients except for extenuating circumstances with permission of the nurse manager of the unit.
• Please do not visit if you have active cold or flu symptoms. If you suspect you are developing cold symptoms, ask for a facemask to cover your nose and mouth. Always contain a cough or sneeze in a tissue or handkerchief.
• Read and follow isolation information posted outside the patient's room.
