The Stroke Outreach Program at Jefferson Regional Medical Center has scheduled a free Community Stroke Risk Screening for Saturday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clairton Municipal Building, 551 Ravensburg Blvd., Clairton. No insurance is needed; ages 18 and over are welcome. The last appointment time is at 1:30 p.m.

The free screening, which takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete, includes a stroke risk assessment survey, blood pressure check, finger stick blood sample for HDL, total cholesterol and blood sugar levels, carbon monoxide testing for smokers, body fat analysis, educational materials and counseling. In addition, a free bone density screening will be available for qualifying postmenopausal women ages 45-65.

Free parking, light refreshments and giveaways will be provided. Free shuttle service will be provided by WorkLink at its regularly scheduled stops in Clairton. Schedules are available at the Clairton Municipal Building or at www.worklinkvan.org.

The screening is sponsored by Jefferson Regional Medical Center with clinical support provided by Duquesne University. Advance registration is preferred by calling 412-469-7100.
