Clinical Trials
A clinical trial is a research study developed to answer specific questions about new possibilities for treating medical conditions with vaccines, medications, and methods of treatment. Clinical trials however, are not for everyone. Some people are uncomfortable with participating in a clinical trial. Also, you are required to meet specific criteria in order to participate in a trial. These criteria may include your gender, age, stage of condition, and other treatments you may have received.

Clinical trials are available for oncology patients through the Hematology Oncology Associates of the UPMC Cancer Center, located in the Medical Office Building on the Jefferson Regional Medical Center campus and also through the Radiation Oncology Center located on campus as a joint venture with UPMC and Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

You can learn more about clinical trials by visiting clinicaltrials.gov, a web site developed by the National Institutes of Health. Your physician can help you decide if clinical trial participation is right for you.
